signage questions - what do I need?
This is a frequently asked question, and here is some additional info!
Table numbers - necessary, if assigning places or tables - these should be hard/stand up, or if paper, in frames or strong holders - paper table numbers can end up looking messy if not planned for! Please do not just do paper and those tiny holders - they will flop over! Frames are really best for paper. I love acrylic!
Seating chart and/or escort cards or place cards - necessary (if assigning tables only, you could do just a seating chart OR escort cards; if assigning tables AND seats, you will also need place cards with their first name, if having a plated meal, you also need a meal indicator)
PLATED - place cards WITH meal indicator + seating chart
FAMILY STYLE - place cards or escort cards + seating chart
BUFFET - place cards or escort cards + seating chart
Bar menu - these should be hard/stand up, or if paper, in frames. You do not need to list every beer and liquor- these will be displayed on the bar or back bar shelf if you have one. These should be for specialty cocktails only, and then you can also list “full open bar” or “beer and wine”, whatever applies. (do you want one for your welcome party as well?)
Cards and gifts sign - nice to have! These should be hard/stand up, or if paper, in frames.
Welcome sign - aesthetic choice only (do you want one for your welcome party as well?)
Programs- do not need (these often end up in the trash or on the ground - if you really want them, I would suggest only 1 per 2 guests or families)
Menus - do not need unless doing a buffet or maybe stations (servers can tell guests what each item is in the case of plated or family style) - if you must do them, perhaps consider just 2 per table… note that if you do them per place- where do they end up after a quick glance? Usually all over the table! Kind of messy.
If you are doing welcome bags, and itinerary printed is really nice in those - paper works!
If you get easels for your larger signage, please do metal or nice strong easels. The wood ones from Amazon don’t do well outdoors and end up falling. They are REALLY F’ING AWFUL and I promise you do not want them at your nice wedding.
This is one of my favorite easels available - very aesthetic and well constructed!
